Be Strong and Humble Yourself

“Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, but humility goes before honor.”
(Proverbs 18:12)
“A man's pride will bring him low, but a humble spirit will obtain honor.” (Proverbs
29:23)
Humility is not always regarded as a positive attribute. If you respond with a soft answer
when someone is unkind, you may viewed as weak and cowardly; unwilling to standup
for yourself. Certainly there are times that we should take a stand, however, regardless
of how we choose to respond, that response should always be clothed with humility; not
pride.
Had Jesus allowed pride to be the dominant emotion in His life, He would have failed
miserably in His mission. He wouldn’t have successfully navigated the temptations of
Satan in Matthew 4. When tempted to turn stones into bread a prideful Jesus would
have done so. When tempted to throw himself off of the pinnacle of the temple in the
holy city, prideful Jesus would have done so. Prideful Jesus would have called on the
12 legions of angels that He mentioned in Matthew 26:53. Prideful Jesus would not
only have revealed who hit Him in Matthew 26:68 He would have struck them dead.
Prideful Jesus would not have allowed himself to be scourged until He was a battered
bloody mess. Prideful Jesus would have come down off of the cross in Matthew 27:40
when mocked by the crowd to do so. However, prideful Jesus is a fictional character;
prideful, arrogant, conceited Jesus did not exist.
The real Jesus was a man of humility…
The real Jesus was one “…who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who,
when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but
committed himself to him that judgeth righteously…” The real Jesus, “…bore our sins in
His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:
by whose stripes ye (we) were healed. For ye (we) were as sheep going astray; but are
now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.” (1 st Peter 2:21-25)
Prideful Jesus would have never done this…
But praise GOD, humble Jesus did!
“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an
example, that ye should follow his steps…” (1 st Peter 2:20)
Let us all strive to follow in the footsteps of our humble Savior!!!
