Was He Good?

Was He good? Was He a deceiver? What are the consequences? How will we respond?

“Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, where is he? And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, nay; but he deceiveth the people.” John 7:11-12

There were many opinions about Jesus during His time upon the earth. In John 7:12 He was identified as good by some and deceitful by others. The law of non-contradiction would not allow for Jesus to be both good and deceitful at the same time.

Was He good?

If so He was not a deceiver therefore we can believe the things that He said.

Jesus identified Himself in the following ways:

“I AM the bread of life.” (John 6:48)

“I AM the light of the world.” (John 8:12)

“I AM the Son of GOD.” (Luke 22:70-71)

“I AM the door of salvation.” (John 10:9, 20)

These are hefty claims that have eternal consequences. If true and we respond accordingly, we stand to inherit an eternal reward from our LORD. That reward will consist of being in His presence for eternity. John 14:1-3

If we believe that He is the bread of life, light of the world, door of salvation and the Son of GOD, then we inevitably believe that He loved us enough to die for us. (John 3:16)

How does our recognition of this love motivate us to live?
